? OK to remove normal uterus, cervix, ovaries, breasts in a middle aged woman with children- to avoid cancers? |
Cancer kills. I'd say that unless you were at risk for these cancers...ie family history, several first-degree relatives have these cancers or you have the genetic marker for these types of cancers, I'd leave well enough alone & take my chances. If on the other hand, you do have these risks I would do lots of research & try to come to the best decision I could for myself. You shouldn't remove any part of your organs if there is no need to. IMO, it's a good idea. I see no reason to keep these organs if they're susceptible to cancer and no longer useful. With new advances in laparascopic surgery, the post-surgical risks are lower. Breasts can be replaced with implants. Wow! That is one risky surgery!!! Highly invasive, very dangerous...the chances of dieing during that and leaving your children motherless is probably about as high as dieing when your 70 and from cancer and given your children a chance to grow up. |
