What is the difference from adenomyosis and endomotrosis? |
i have had the 1st and in my notes is says the residual endometrium was secretory in type with no eveidence of malignancy. does that mean it was in a stage 1 or 2 or total clear. I HAVE HAD A HYSTERECTOMY NOW Adeno is diffuse spread of Endometriosis, but it is specifically located within the muscular portion of the uterus (myometrium). It is very difficult to treat because it is so diffuse and affects (typically) the entirety (or at least a large portion) of the uterus. Hysterectomy is usually needed for a confirmation of diagnosis, although it can be suspected because it has a very specific appearance and symptoms (most notably a swollen/tender/boggy appearing uterus, accompanied by deep cramping and excessively heavy bleeding). Hysterectomy also, unlike "regular" Endometriosis, cures the condition, by removing the affected organ (the same is NOT true of typical Endometriosis located elsewhere in the abdomen and pelvis). Most schools of thought maintain that Adeno only affects "older" women, but that's simply not true - there are plenty of younger patients who suffer from Adeno and/or Endo earlier in life. sec The difference between endometriosis and adenomyosis has to do with location of where they are. Adenomyosis is endometriosis that is growing inside the uterine muscle wall. This type of endometriosis is the only kind that can be cured by hysterectomy. I would also recommend making another appt with your doctor to get further clarification of the findings. |
