Malaria ???

the symptoms of the disease and do they change over time

Fever and chills (ague). Without treatment, the fever gets worse each time - that is what kills people with malaria is the fevers. Aspirin and fluids is what you take - there is no cure for malaria as yet. Once you have it, you've got it for life.

After the first bout, generally you only get the symptoms again if your system is run down by something else - a bad cold, pneumonia, influenza (flu), etc.

The ague lasts shorter periods of time as years go by, the fever is not as high, and they get further apart.

fever with chills and rigors and deffervescence after about 6 hrs wiyh sweating, the fever can come every day or on alternate day or everythird day depending on the strain of the parasite. latter anemia and slight jaundice may develop with extreme weakness.
latter complications may develop like cerebral malaria etc.

Drankurb (previous answerer) is right, especially about the fevers. You CAN get cured of malaria if you don't let the fevers go on for too long and causing complications and death. It's caused by several plasmodium species, which are protozoan parasites, so anti-parasitic drugs work. However, there are a couple of species (P. vivax and P. ovale) that can occasional cause chronic malaria, relapsing months or years later.
