Malaria in Riviera Maya area of Mexico??

Hi all, im due to travel to mexico in 7 weeks and im wondering if anyone has travelled to Riviera Maya area before and took malaria tablets? I'll be 16 weeks pregnant at the time of travel so really dont want to take tablets but also wouldn't like malaria! i'd be greatful for any help thank you

I have been there and many other places too and not once taken Maleria tablets, though from what I remember there were loads of mosquitoes! It depends on what the travel agent tells you but it will mean a risk - My husband and I were fine but yu may not be, if there is no risk to your unborn baby I would say don't risk it, though if there is I would say do risk it!

Mexico is a wonderful place, my favourite destination and you will love it!

Good luck with babs and have a fab holiday!

Wow the perfect question for me. I was 2 weeks into my pregancy when my husband annouced we were going to riviera maya. Yep i was thrilled but scared. The malaria tablets dont affect your child or your health. I took them. I got a little woozy and got a tiny headache but i was fine. Its also best to drink plenty of water on your journey good luck .. x
