Malaria prophylaxis?

4 pts of confusion - can you help clear this up?

1)I have 1 guidebook that recommends cloroquine for the 1st country I'll visit (cambodia) & fansidar for the 2nd country (laos). These drugs have to build up in your system so switching in mid-trip is out. What to do?
2) I have found cloroquine for sale throughout SE Asia but cloroquine-resistance has been seen since the '80s. Why are they selling it?
3) For emergency treatment, I had always heard of increased doses of the propylaxis. However I recently read that switching the medication & using a higher dose of another drug was the way to go; fansidar was the one mentioned
4) where can I get reliable, current info re. malaria prophylaxis, other than CDC (they just read to you from their info sheets)?

Search Malaria, the drug your looking for is Cipro.

While in the Peace Corps we were issued Mephloquin, taken once a week. Also used widely by military personnel.
