What is malaria?

Malaria is caused by a parasite called Plasmodium. You probably know that it is transmitted by infected mosquitos. A person infected will have fever that comes and goes, and chills, nausea, shaking, sweating, and weakness. Alot of times people infected with malaria think they have the flu.

Some of the things that can happen when you are infected are your red blood cells actually break down, also, kidney failure, coma and many times death, without treatment.

I don't know of any other scientific name besides Malaria. I think that is what it is called, just Malaria.
