Is malaria infected (1-year ago) donor can donate forplatelet pheresis procedure?

A prospective donor who had been suffered in malari one year ago and had taken anti-malaria drugs want to donate
for platelet pheresis procedure although for RBC it is not
allowed for 3-5 years. Kindly give reference

The answer is No.

According to the American Red Cross, anyone must wait 3 years post treatment for malaria to be accepted for donation.

Wait 12 months after returning from a trip to an area where malaria is found.
Wait 3 years after living in a country or countries where malaria is found.

Blood for donation is NOT tested for malaria, so prospective donors who have been exposed or have lived in areas where malaria is endemic, must wait till all possible chance of infection is past.

Same. Depending on where you are, it's generally within the last 3yrs at least, for malaria infection. Main differences include that for platelest, you shouldn't have taken aspirin or potential blood-thinners or antibiotics for a couple of says before.

Shouldn't the donor being talking with their doctor and the recipient's medical team about this.
