Is fighting Malaria worth using dangerous chemicals? |
Malaria kills alot of people worldwide still; and reading this: I think that malaria is such a devastating disease that yes, banned pesticides (DDT) that kill the mosquitos is acceptable in endemic areas. I think it is interesting that they are doing this in Africa. Of course, I think it is horrible! Whatever happened to giving the person quinine for the malaria? My mother (born in 1904) had malaria as a child. She had to take quinine all her life, and she just did that. At that time, no one needed a prescription to get quinine. She was a very sickly child with the malaria bouts that sent her to bed for days and days, totally 'out of her head'. She was a very strong adult. She lived to be almost 90. |
