Different beliefs about malaria?

do you know a belief or theory that was stated thousands of years ago about malaria?? like in ethnic people......are there any???

This is from Wikipedia:
(quote) The term malaria originates from Medieval Italian: mala aria 鈥?"bad air"; and the disease was formerly called ague or marsh fever due to its association with swamps. (unquote)
The 'bad air' was believed to be the cause, until it was found that malaria is caused by a parasite carried by the mosquitoes that lived in the swamps.
