Which is worst sickle cell or malaria? |
I read some where, (I remember in my mind) that sickle cell is a disease created that made africans immune the Malaria but caused other problems. If this is true tell me, but other than that if a person had sickle cell anemia (can't spell too lazy to check) and he is cannot get malaria. Would he be better or is he in a worse position Bubba has it right. I'm African so I can offer a unique perspective of this. In Africa, malaria is not a big deal. I've had malaria 3 times. It's like the flu, you just need medicine. People that die from malaria are usually very poor and don't have enough money to get the drugs. Worse position. Sickle cell is a permanent genetic defect that will plague your entire life. Malaria on the other hand, while it can make you very sick, is treatable and curable. |
