What is magnesium for?

my father finished chemotherapy, just started radiation and has to take magnesium pills that make him sick. what does the magnesium do and why does he have nauseau?

Chemo decreases the magnesium levels in his blood so he needs them after his chemo treatments. The nausea his probably due to the chemo, a nasty side effect unfortunately. There is something his doctor maybe able to help him with medication if its too bad. Hope your father the best.

There are many different forms of magnesium So your question need to be a bit more specific whit what form he is taking.

"Magnesium ions are essential to all living cells, and is the 11th most abundant element by mass in the human body"

So I think it must be something that is good for him It could even be used as maybe protection for his organs as he is going through radiation.

Hope someone here can help you better than I have and best wishes to your dad and family
