Magnesium Benefits?


I bought a bottle of Tension RX at the health food store, for tension/anxiety. I haven't found it helpful at all. It contains B-6 100mg. and Magnesium 116 mg., Hops Extract 100mg. Anyone familiar with what these ingredients are good for?

Magnesium -
Helps protect against heart disease and irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia), Eases fibromyalgia symptoms, Lowers high blood pressure. May reduce the severity of asthma attacks. Improves symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS). Aids in preventing the complications of diabetes.

Vitamin B6-
Helps prevent cardiovascular disease and strokes. Helps to lift depression. Eases insomnia. Treats carpal tunnel syndrome.
May lessen PMS symptoms. Helps relieve asthma attacks.

Hops -Remedies For: Anxiety, Insomnia

Hops are most commonly used for their calming effect on the nervous system. Hop tea is recommended for nervous diarrhea, insomnia, and restlessness. It will also help to stimulate appetite, dispel flatulence, and relieve intestinal cramps. It can be usefully combined with valerian for coughs and nervous spasmodic conditions. The cold tea, taken an hour before meals, is particularly good for digestion. Hops also have diuretic properties and can be taken for various problems with water retention and excess uric acid. A hop pillow is a popular method of overcoming insomnia. (Sprinkle hops with alcohol and fill a small bag or pillowcase with them.)

I was told by my doctor that magnesium helps with stress and to help you sleep better.

I think B6 is good for stress too and energy. The hops I think are full of B vitamins.

Signs of a Vitamin B6 deficiency include depression and anxiety. Magensium deficiency has been linked to anxiety. Hops help support the nervous system.

Tension RX is probably not going to work if you don't find out the cause of your tension and anxiety. Anxiety is a symptom of a problem that could be low serotonin, hyperthyroid, hypoglycemia, estrogen dominance if you've used birth control pills or have had children. Anxiety means something is out of balance in your body or your life- or both.

Magnesium is great for cramps. I get them as I am on a low carb diet......daily magnesium, and no more cramps..
