Will magnesium tablets help for joint pain or only muscular cramps etc?

It's really humid, I over did it at work today and my fibromyalgia is playing up badly. I felt OK and then in the space of 15 minutes I got so stiff and sore that I can now barely move.

I've taken magnesium before for cramps and it seemed to help but this pain seems to be from my joints...will it help with this or not?

Any other ideas appreciated

Well, here's what I found for you,

http://ods.od.nih.gov/Health_Information...
Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in the body and is essential to good health. Approximately 50% of total body magnesium is found in bone. The other half is found predominantly inside cells of body tissues and organs. Only 1% of magnesium is found in blood, but the body works very hard to keep blood levels of magnesium constant [1].

Magnesium is needed for more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body. It helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function, keeps heart rhythm steady, supports a healthy immune system, and keeps bones strong. Magnesium also helps regulate blood sugar levels, promotes normal blood pressure, and is known to be involved in energy metabolism and protein synthesis [2-3]. There is an increased interest in the role of magnesium in preventing and managing disorders such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. Dietary magnesium is absorbed in the small intestines. Magnesium is excreted through the kidneys [1-3,4].

Are you getting enough magnesium to keep yourself healthy?

"According to the U.S. National Academy of Sciences (1977) there have been more than 50 studies, in nine countries, that have indicated an inverse relationship between water hardness and mortality from cardiovascular disease. That is, people who drink water that is deficient in magnesium and calcium generally appear more susceptible to this disease. The U.S. National Academy of Sciences has estimated that a nation-wide initiative to add calcium and magnesium to soft water might reduce the annual cardiovascular death rate by 150,000 in the United States." I hope this helps

PS, most tablets are not in the form that readily combine with water in the form the body can instantly use, or are colloidal... if you do not see that word, then do not use it, find another brand.

Also, what you describe are the first signs of HEAT EXAUSTION, which is in effect the most mild form of HEAT STROKE, and each can be avoided with electrolites... Heat Stroke kills some 300-4,000 people every year.

.

I believe it will, my wife uses it

try ibuprofen for your joint pain... and also try to visit your doctor

Chondroitin Glucosamine with Msm is best for joint problems. Magnesium helps with muscles and the nervous sytem, mainly. Always take the magnesium with calcium and vitamin D, as well.....those three work together to help both your muscles and bones and nerves. The Glucosamine helps lubricate the joints. Also, if you have lots of muscle cramps, taking apple cider vinegar mixed with a teaspoon of honey over a period of time should help that. (8 oz. glass of water, mixed with teaspoon each of the vinegar and honey)

Poor dear, two of my friends suffer that condition as well. Both say magnesium and water walking/aerobics seem to help the most, but I'm no expert.

The magnesium will work better if you take it every day. It's much better to prevent the pain and stiffness from developing than waiting until after it does and try to make it go away.
