What is the use of mixture MAGNESIUM trisilicate for gastric treatment?

i have gastric so i just went to clinic today, the doctor give me a bottle of white liquid, it's mixture MAGNESIUM trisilicate.

the indication is for the relief of hyperacidity. but i don't know what it means.......
what is the function of mixture MAGNESIUM trisilicate for gastric?

It's a medicine that can be used for a short time to treat a burning stomach. It binds itself to extra acids in your stomach and stops the burning. You should use it for no more than seven days. Hyperacidity simply means that your stomach has too much acid in it. This medicine will remove the extra acid. If you're still having problems after seven days of medicine then you'll need to return to your doctor for something else.
