I have to take Magnesium Citrate for a small bowel prep...does anybody know if it taste really gross???

i dont want to psych myself out, but i have recently had a colonoscopy and had to take like 40 pills to make my bowel clean, which showed that i may have crohns diesease. now i have to go in tom. to take a capsule endoscopy, and i have to drink a bottle of magnesium citrate. its lemon flavored, but i just dont know how long it will take to work, and im home alone trying to take care of my 3 month old infant while having to do all of this (im only 18 if the effects are diffrent with age)

do anybody know if its going to make me cramp or what not?

how much am i supposed to take if its for a bowel prep? the dr never said? should i take half now, and then half in an hour? im supposed to start it a 5 which is 15 min. from now

When you drink this, think of a bland 7-up or Mountain Dew. It does have a light lemony taste but no fizz & not as nice as the sodas. No, it's not really gross as you put it.
It should not make you cramp. The most it's going to do to you is make you use the restroom a little more often. It's a gradual process that is really not that noticeable.

Yes, it kinda does taste gross.

It usually does give you cramps and takes anywhere from 30 minutes to 6 hours to work. The taste isn't bad, its tolerable and not gross tasting. Good luck

YES it's HORRIBLE!!!! Sorry.....but that is the truth!! just try and drink it all at one time!

It is very effective and does not taste bad. You may be in the BR quite frequently so why not invite a friend over to help out with the baby? You may get some cramps.

it's really not that bad. it isn't all that great either. divide the bottle into 2 separate drinks and just drink as quickly as possible. yes there may be some minor cramping but not horrible. it will work fast and be over with quickly, i would recommend taking before bed so it will work overnight.
