Mad Cow Disease Treatments?

I was wondering, why is Mad Cow not cured by antibiotics or interferon, or other means like that?

Mad Cow, and the associated human disease is causes, creutzfeldt-jakob are spongiform encephalopathies. These classes of disease are not caused by viruses or bacteria, but by prions. A prion is a proteinaceous infectious particle, and the rules governing viruses and bacteria do not apply. A prion has no cellular activity to inhibit because it is not a cell.

Normal human proteins are very curvy, and twisted, and this shape allows them to do their jobs.
A prion is a standard protein, except instead of being curvy, its shaped like an accordion. This abnormal shape causes standard proteins to reshape to this accordion type. The beta sheets formed result in physical disruption, and holes literally being eaten in the brain.

A prion cannot be killed because it is not alive, and cannot be inhibited by interferon because not only does it not use cellular means or reproduction, but is not even recognized by the immune system.

This paticular disease is resistant to antibiotics. The only prevention is to not eat beef.

Because Its a prion protein.

it is not a virus or germ . it is a mis folded protein . cooking doesn't kill it . bush's answer is to cut back on meat (cut USDA budgets ) inspectors and to harvest cows under 2 years old , so it's harder to detect . he likes to use the 'if you don't find a problem ,then there is none .' type logic . beef industry is a big political donater. we are doomed , sorry .
