What is mad cow disease?

Bovine spongiform encephalopathy
A neurodegenerative (deterioration of neurons or the mylin sheath in the brain) disease in cattle. In other words, makes your brain go to mush, pretty much. Can be spread to humans, if that occurs it is then called Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

I don`t know I am a rabbit.

It is bovine spongieform encephalopathy an ultimately fatal brain disease.
It can be transmitted to humans as CJD.

Mad Cow disease is a spongiform Encephalpathy. The disease is caused by a strange protein called a Prion and it causes a unique death to neurons in the CNS. It basically makes the brain look like a sponge hence name. It can be transmitted to humans if humans eat cow brains. The disease in humans is called Crutchfield Jakob (sp. maybe wrong) disease. The latency period can be 7 years or longer. This is a slow wasting disease with mental decline and no cure.
