Can you get AIDS by eating a HIV infected person?

Even if they're cooked really well?
I'm thinking a well cooked person would have been rid of the HIV as the heat would kill the HIV virus. But then saying that, people still got mad cow disease from eating beef didn't they?

HIV if the person were butchered immediately, then the potential to become infected would be greatest during the butchering process (the same risk as butchering a SIV positive ape/monkey).

Soo, I would say, just to be safe, do not be the person butchering the cadaver... It would be safe to assume that well cooked flesh would not transfer the virus, but up until it was well cooked, there would be a risk of it still being contagious.
This was a rather dark, but interesting question.

Isnt it transferred by blood? So if there was still blood from the infected person and you ingested the person I would think so.

i wonder... you're more concerned on contracting HIV than eating your own kind? either way... its not healthy

AIDS originally came from African monkeys. Many people eat monkeys in Africa. There might be some data about HIV transmission in relation to eating monkeys. Don't know if it would hold for humans too, but it's likely as close as your gonna get.

If we should meet on the streets, please don't ever, EVER tell me why you wanted to know this...

HIV while being a destructive virus to the human body is extremely weak. It survives only 5 minutes in blood outside the body and is destroyed by stomach acids. So the answer is no, you can鈥檛 contract it by eating a person with HIV. However, you do run one risk, that is, if there are any cuts or sores in your mouth or oesophagus and you consume HIV, you have a great chance of contracting it.

Mad Cow Disease, or Bovine Spongiform Encephalitis is not a virus, but a prion. This is a complicated thing, but think of it as a piece of protein that when it contacts other proteins (which we are made of) will change them! This resultsin a brain that is so destroyed by the prion that it resembles a sponge (hence its name.) Also. prions cannot be destroyed or sterilized by any known means.

It is unlikely you will contract HIV eating a cooked person with HIV, but don't try it as the risk is not worth it. Also cannibalism is illegal, and so is murder.
