I developed lymphedema in my foot after a foot surgery. any input available?

i can only find information about upper body lymphedema. i need to find a cause for this to happen to my foot . it isn't vascular. circulation to my foot is good. i've asked about the trauma from surgery but get no definite answers.bunionectomy was in october 2005 still not able to stand on foot for any length of time because of pain....help!

no infections are or have been present in my foot or leg. overall health has been excellent. i'm wondering what could have happened, if anything, during surgery to cause this to happen. any suggestions?

Lymphedema may also be caused by chronic infection, usually involving the legs. Less commonly, lymphedema is primary (i.e., due to the genetic make-up). Children with primary lymphedema may be born with it (congenital lymphedema) or it may become evident in their teens (lymphedema praecox) or in adulthood (lymphedema tarda).

Chronic lymphedema may result in minor swelling and discomfort. Occasionally it leads to a grave disability and disfigurement. Lymphedema may be precipitated, or made worse, by a skin infection. Skin infections can be difficult to treat in someone with pre-existing lymphedema.
Secondary lymphedema may be caused by surgery, radiation or trauma.
