Has anyone treated lymphedema successfully with acupuncture?

Hi Pokey

Accupuncture is used alot of times to relieve pain, and yes Lymphedema causes pain. But the problem with it is, you have to insert needles, and with lymphedema you want to avoid needles and anything tight in the areas affected. Needles not only cause trauma but they are invasive and could cause infections. The gold standard treatment for Lymphedema is complete/complex decongestive therapy, known as CDT. CTD is a combination of manual lymph drainage (medical massage) performed by certified lymphedema therapists (also physical therapists, massage therapists, RN's, etc), compression therapy, skin care, and special exercises that are specifically given to patients to promote fluid movement. The MLD feels like a massage and is pleasant feeling. The benefits of CDT are spectacular. I can help you find a therapist if you'd like to try it, contact me at my website below.
