Swollen lymph nodes and neck stiffness? or worse?

I have mono and therefore and suffering from the swelling of the lymph nodes in my neck.
Can the swelling of the lymph nodes cause neck stiffness?

This is the first day my neck had been bothering me (aside from the swelling of the nodes) and I was just trying to figure out if the lymph nodes being swollen could cause this neck stiffness.

If I tilt my head forward and tuck my chin to my chest there is a slight pressure on the back of my neck.
If i tilt my head back and look up at the ceiling i feel pressure on either side of my esophagus (where I assume the pressure would be from the nodes).

If anybody can give me some more info about this it would be much appreciated.
Unfortunately I am somewhat of a hypocondriac and fear it could possibly be the neck stiffness associated with meningitis.
If it were meningitis I assume my neck would be alot stiffer, but I just want to get some secondary opinions before I start to worry too much about it.
Thanx in advance for your answers

that happens to me when my allergies kick up or i have a bad head cold. My lymph nodes swell and my neck stiffens up. I generally take some ibuprofen and it goes away in a couple of days.

If I were you, I would put a call into my doctor. Tell him/her about the neck stiffness (known in the medical world as nuchal rigidity). You're right -- it's the classic sign of meningitis......but they would have to do further testing to rule that out. It never hurts to call your doctor though -- that is his/her job! Trust me -- I know! : ) Good luck and feel better!
