Enlarged lymph nodes - numb?

for over a month i have enlarged nodes in my neck, armpit, groin and arm (inside elbow).. i have been referred and my hospital apt is april 27th. i'm worried because the nodes are getting bigger - my GP doesn't seem to think we should move any faster. but, she also said there are no lymph nodes inside the elbow and it's just fat :(

i'm aware it could be lymphoma as she mentioned that previously, but it could also be infection. i think what worries me most is that lymph nodes are numb - especially inside the elbow, the area appears swollen but tight and the skin is numb. is this any indication of anything? no matter how much i search online, i can't find numbness being connected with lymph nodes. or maybe it's some sort of fluid accummulation that has made the surrounding nerves numb?

thanks folks :)

thanks so much notyourb's - that's what it must be, an accumulation of fluid. i didn't realise that would cause numbness.

so many nodes are swollen and not only is my neck numb, but one of the first areas i noticed numb was underneath my breasts and stomach. i had no reflex on the stomach when the doc tested - that was back in december. do you think i'm numb there for the same reason?

i'm also aware of the B symptoms of lymphoma, which i have some - fevers, night sweats and fatigue. i haven't been well since october last year and have been back and forth to the docs, but only noticed the enlarged lymph nodes about 6 weeks back. no idea how long they have been enlarged.

thanks again, much appreciated.

Enlarged lymph nodes inside might be compressing a blood vessel, which could cause numbness and/or fluid accumulation.

And yes this has to be investigated as a possible lymphoma, althought many other things can cause lymph node swelling. Also report any other symptom you might possibly have such as unexplained weight loss/fatigue, sleeping difficulties, night sweats, intense itching or redness on the skin (those are called B-symptoms and are linked with lymphoma). Usually CT scan of abdomen will be done to see if there are enlarged lymph nodes inside chest cavity. Diagnosis is confirmed with a lymph node biopsy.

The good news is that, as weird as it might sound, aggressive lymphomas have a very high cure rate, much better than that of indolent (slow progressing) ones.
