Swollen lymph nodes - No longer painful.?

I recently had (And still kinda have.) a sinusitis. My doctor put me on Ceftin for 10 days to treat it, alongside what they think is a UTI.

I have swollen lymph nodes on the right side of my neck that were painful to the touch. One of the lymph nodes seems fairly large. I also noticed white spots on one of my tonsils on the same side.

The lymph nodes in my neck are no longer painful (Or at least not very painful. Only slightly when there's a fair amount of pressure put on them, but not as bad as they were.) and the swelling does not seem to have gone down. It's visibly swollen, although you'd only notice it if I pointed it out.

They still feel movable, and mostly soft, although one does feel a little firmer. (Albeit it could be the area, or the fact that multiple nodes on that side are swollen, in close proximity to each other.

Should this be cause for concern, or is it normal for the lymph nodes to stay swollen but lose painfulness when you're getting over an infection?

That is normal, pain goes away first in recovering nodes, that is a sign that they are manageing the infection. anytime your lymph nodes are swollen in means they are bascally working harder than normal. once everything is cleared out of your system they should steadily go down. if your tonsils remain spotted or enlarged then you would definatly want to have those looked at. once you are on an antibiotic for a few days all of these symtoms should start to go away.

I just went to the Ear, Nose & Throat Doctor for something similar...I was worried about a swollen, tender lymph node. Right before the appointment...it disappeared!

I kept the appointment because I was so concerned...see, my Mom has had Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma for 8 years...so I'm a little paranoid.

The doctor said that I am one of those people who catches a lot of viruses...I'm always fighting something off. In fact, I was just taking an antibiotic for a sinus infection at the time of the appointment. The doctor said that my lymph node was tender because I kept touching it for the entire week before the appointment.

He also said that the fact that the lymph node was no longer swollen was a good sign. He said if it remained tender and swollen...he would probe further to find out the cause.

So...just finish your antibiotic...try not to keep poking and pushing on your lymp nodes...they'll keep getting sore this way.

If it stays swollen after you finish ALL the antibiotics...call your doctor.

Mine still swell up from time to time because I'm fighting viruses and sinus infections...but it still goes away on it's own.

No worries...Take Care...hope you get to feeling better!
