What causes lymph nodes to swell?

I felt two lumps at the side of my neck. I had one many years ago and it's gone now but now there's two smaller than before but it hurts when I touch them. the last one that I had did not hurt. are these swollen lymph nodes. do swollen lymph nodes hurt? what causes the lymph nodes to swell?

Several things can cause this. An infection in the body can do this as well as a fungus being in your body. To help your body clean itself out go to a health food store and get a bottle of wild oregano gel caps. Do 3 to 4 of them 3 times a day for a month. I do this a few times a year. It makes your system inhospitable to most fungi, bacteria and viruses. In doing this you have to eat yogurt with cultures every day to replenish your intestines. I would also see a doctor if the symptoms persist. And have blood work done to look for fungi in your body.

they dont have any blood vessels going into them so white blood cells accumulate there. Try stretching or exercise.

The most common cause of lymph node swelling is a viral infection.

Classically when you get the sniffles, the lymph nodes in your neck swell up.

If you have an infection in your arm or leg, you can find the lymph nodes of the corresponding area might swell (armpit or groin).

Be aware, though, that there are cancers of the lymph nodes. Also some of the infections that can cause lymph node swelling can be very nasty - for example tuberculosis.

Now these are all quite rare so it is unlike you have the nasty stuff, but it is probably worthwhile getting checked over by the doctor.

Not all swollen lymph nodes hurt.

Classically TB (tuberculosis) causes NON-painful lymph gland swelling

some infection in the body ,get it checked by ur local doc

see this website for where the lymph nodes are located: http://www.nhlcyberfamily.org/nodes.htm

I don't know that maybe you are talking about just "oil bumps" that sometimes occur on the neck and ear lobes.

Infections, cancer and many other conditions can cause it to expand as the immune system reacts to the problem. Check with your doctor, get a blood test and make sure your immune system is ok.

Yes, Lymph Nodes can swell and you can have pain. This is usually an indication of infection in the body. You probably have one of the following coming on a sinus infection, head cold, ear infection and allergies can contribute to bringing on this symptoms. You need to got o the Doctor to get some antibiotics.
