Glands, lymph nodes?

I know that swollen lymph nodes mean that your body is fighting an infection of some kind. But, when the only symptom is the lymph nodes in my throat area and/or jaw line (either side) hurt when I swallow, what does that mean? I tried to look it up. But, I haven't had much luck. I had this before a LONG time ago (age 19) and being on antibiotics for a year didn't help. So they took my tonsils out. They have been dormint for 11 years. Now it's doing the same thing. It will go away for a few days and will return....yadda yadda yadda.

When my allergies are acting up I get a real bad pain in my neck in the front side, usually the right and it leads towards my ear. If this is similar it could just be an irritant from an allergy. I know I have drainage issues on my right side, which could be what your having issues with. I am not sure though if it's a lymph node, but it sure feels like one, because something is swelling up in that area. Don't know if this helped you, but thought I'd put my two cents worth in.

I usually have to take a Tylenol Sinus tablet for my allergies, I am allergic to ibuprophen. If that is what works then I'd use what works best for you. Glad I could help. I hate pain...... Report It

have you been tested for HIV? Swollen lymph nodes are a sign of that. If your not sick but have swollen lymph nodes I'd get it checked out.

Look at a Merck manual. It is a great source for possibilities. It might be mono nucleousis (sp?) Ultimately though you should just go see a doctor. Maybe get some blood work done. It is possible to have a relapse of the Epstein bar virus, even if you had it before. Relapses occur when you bodies immune system has taken a hit and is not operating like it should be.
