Infected lymph nodes in neck from tosillitis how long does the swelling take to go down?

my son caught tonsillitis 4 weeks ago an had a odd reaction to it all his lymph nodes were swollen and he didnt move hisneck for 5 days he was treated in hospital with antibiotics. now 4 weeks on he's fine but has one still large lymph node in his neck i wondered how long was normal for it to go down or should i take him to the docs. he is obviously worried about going as he doesnt want to end up in hospital agian as otherwise he's his normal self, anyone had this?

An article I found said that you should contact your physician if they last longer than 3 weeks. I think you have hit that mark. But it is probably still his body clearing up the infection, which must have been severe for him to be hospitalized. At the very least you should call the doctor's office and get his/her advice on it.

-the lymph nodes are larger than 3 centimeters, or 1 1/4 inches;
-there are signs or symptoms of an infection, such as a sore throat, a fever, or an earache;
-the lymph nodes are felt above the collarbone, regardless of their size; or
-persistently enlarged nodes, lasting three or more weeks.

He needs some antibiotics

the maximum should be ten days youll have to go back to the doctor

i had my worst attack last year. the lymph nodes went back to normal as soon as i felt normal again, i.e. no fever, no throat pains, etc.

was a nightmare. though im not so sure if it should be the same for kids.

wish him well.
