My lymph nodes have gone crazy!? |
I guess i'm just looking for comfort from others who've had experience. The lymph nodes in my neck have become huge and they are painless. I've had a blood count and that's come back clear. I'm worried because the same thing happened to my friend and she ended up having lymphoma. They have been swollen for over a month and the blood test revealed no infection (no wbc increase) A blood test will not do it. If 'they' have already tried you on antibiotics, and that did not make the lymph node go down, then it needs to be biopsied. It still could be nothing to worry about. Ther are many reasons why lymph nodes swell. If it is something bad, there are great treatments out there, so please try not to worry. Any itching? night sweats? Check this site for more info, and to see if you have any other symptoms: I've had that happen before and it just ended up being from allergies. Sometimes things as minor as an acne outbreak or canker sores can make glands swell, so it is likely nothing to worry about. Just keep an eye on them and if they don't go down in a week or so, you might want to go to your doctor and have them looked at. You should let your family doctor know. I don't mean to scare you, but I had the same symptoms as you and found out I had cancer. The lymph nodes did not hurt. I went to my doctor and was put on a strong antibiotic for 10 days he was thinking I possible had mononucliosis (no other signs but the lymph nodes.) When I went back to my doctor there were no changes so he sent me for a biopsey. The biopsey confirmed cancer, but local pathologist couldn't identify what type. It was sent off to Armed Forces and came back a very rare cancer. Swollen lymph nodes just don't pop up for no reason. It could be from unknown allergies, a recent cold/sore throat, mono, or I'm sure many other things. The most important thing is to go to your doctor and if you're not comfortable with the blood results ask him to send you for a biopsey if there's no other logical reason for these lymph nodes to be swollen, at least to ease your mind. Just to be safe try this. Take vitimin c. The FDA says that the RDA for vit c is 64 mg a day. Linus Pauling who got a Nobel Prize for his work on vit c and a second Nobel Prize for organic chemestry says 1000 mg a day normally and 2000 mg a day if you are sick. Try it. A few years ago there was a research papaer out that said Interferon was the best cancer and infection fighter available, but it was $15,000 a gram. What the paper also said was that Interferon was the product of the natural breakdown of vit c in your system. Shortly after that paper came out the FDA tried to put vit c on perscription only. Guess why?? I had "something" that had me sick 2 weeks twice a year with at least one week in the middle flat on my back. After 25 years of doctors not knowing what it might be I started vitimin C therapy when I got sick. I took enough to keep me asymptomatic and just below too much to give me diarrea. It followed a bell curve over 2 weeks and at the peak I was taking 40,000 mg a day with 300,000 mg over 2 weeks. I did that when I got sick for 2 years and have never gotten sick in the last 10 years. Look into it. I am a two time cancer survivor.LYMPHOMA.Both times my white counts on a C.B.C.blood test were through the roof.My lymph notes were solid but you couldnt move them either. Most doctors dont waste time if they have a hunch it is cancer(at least they didnt with me). They will give you a regimine of antibiotics first. If this doesnt reduce the swelling then they have a biopsy done to see if it is cancer..If your nodes are hard and move then it is a good sighn. If they are stationary then you need to be concerned. When mine swell I always get a check up.If you are worried about lukemia then go see an oncollagist..They specialize in blood..REMEMBER if it is a growth they will not increase and decrease in size. They will keep getting bigger.I hope I helped you.If it will help get a second opinion..I think if it helps you not stress see an oncolagist.
