What causes enlarged lymph nodes in the groin area? |
I was wondering what causes enlarged lymph nodes b/c today when I went to the doctor to get checked/ tested for STDs (i. e. syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia) and HIV, the nurse who did the exam on me told me that I have enlarged lymph nodes in my groin area after she did an exam on me. I am really concerned-- really worryied. I am so worried that I am freakin' out. She told me that's it's really nothing to worry about. However, I did cheat on my boyfriend with two guys in the past year (unprotected) and she knows this. She told me that if any of my tests did come back positive, she would give me a call before the the 16th (of this month). So, here I am, having to wait 2 wks. for my test results to come back. I am a nervous wreck. I just hope and pray to God I didn't catch anything and am healthy. I do have HPV and I don't think that goes away/ is curable. I read that one of the signs of HIV is enlarged lymph nodes and this REALLY scares me. Am I being paranoid for nothing? I JUST WANT TO LET EVERYONE KNOW THAT MY MAN (OR EXCUSE ME-- MY "EX") KNOWS ABOUT MY CHEATING (BOTH TIMES). HE WANTED ME TESTED AND I WANTED THIS, AS WELL, SO I AM GLAD THAT I WENT AHEAD AND GOT TESTED TODAY. PLEASE PRAY THAT THEY COME BACK NEGATIVE-- THE TEST RESULTS, THAT IS. PLEASE PRAY FOR ME. I AM WORRIED. I SHOULD HAVE USE PROTECTION, I KNOW. :( I MADE A MISTAKE. I AM DONE W/ MY CHEATING WAYS. I don't think enlarged lymph nodes in your groin has anything at all to do with an STD!! Did the doc take any blood work? There are numerous reasons that you could have enlarged lymph nodes. Check out some websites like webmd - you can ask specific questions and they will give you answers. Also if you are that freaked out about it then call your doc and talk to a nurse there and ask specifically what could cause enlarged lymph nodes. lymphoma Enlagred lymph nodes of any kind are caused by infections. Don't get so nervous, I just went through some lymph-node related issues in my family so I know how nervous you are. You'll be fine! Calm yourself down, hun. I recommend that you seek out an Infectious Disease Specialist. They are like medical detectives. Enlarged lymph nodes are one of the signs of cancer. But you need to check with your doctor about this. Why are there enlarged lymph nodes? This is because of the infection. Lymphocytes are one of the classes of WBCs. So whenever there is an infection, they fight against the pathogens. When there is increased infection, they need to overwork leading to enlargement. Well I will wish you well with your test results. However, I don't think you have HIV. But I think you have been exposed to possibly HSV. I know that I just recently got tested for HIV and it came back negative. I get enlarged lymph nodes frequently. It scares the Sugar Honey Ice Tea out of me, if you know what I mean. But I had them since I had HSV. I hope this helps. Good luck sweety!!! |
