Personal experiences with lupus?

I'm going to be seeing a rheumotologist for lupus.
I was tested ana positive.
So, I'm not sure if I'm going to have it or not yet.
I have 3 questions.
1. What are the chances of me having lupus?
2. If I have lupus what my future holds for me?
3. What are your personal experiences with lupus?

I am 14 years old, Im slightly overweight and right now Im having a LOT of unexplained weight gain.
I don't have much joint pain and all that, but I do get a little sore. I do have rashes, I get acne around my mouth (does that have anything to do with lupus?) I have major fatigue 24/7, but I also have hypothyroidism which is still in the process of being treated and I know that has to do with that too. So any information would be helpful right now.
ps. my ana titer is 1:160 and my gfr is about 140

I'm with Chris - I also have SLE and was "officially" diagnosed about 3 years ago, after many false starts. While it might seem overwhelming and scary at first, you CAN live quite well with Lupus. Once your rhuemotologist confirms your diagnosis, you will probably be started on medicine, or a combination of medicines, that will hopefully push you into "remission" and control your symptoms. From that point, you'll just control your "flares". And as you go on, you'll find out what your own "problems" are, or what things can push you toward a flare.
There are lots of good websites that explain Lupus, and many of them have great forums where you can get in touch with other Lupus patients.

The Rheumatologist will probably confirm those results. If you do have Lupus, take each day at a time. I have had it for the past 35 years. If you drink or eat artificially sweetened foods, stop and eat normal foods.
My titer stays at about 1: 25.000. I have discoid (skin reactions) and systemic Lupus. Your titer is not that high, even though yours is positive. I found that it took about a year to come to the reality that I had it. My religion helped me a great deal. Ask the options that you have with meds. I went with treating the pain and Plaquenil for the Lupus spots. You can email me if you have any more questions.
