Lupus Question?

Ok, I'm really confused and I'm hoping someone might be able to help me.

I have been having lupus symptoms the last few months....rashes when exposed to sunlight, fatigue, EXTREME joint pain in my fingers, knees, and feet, and mouth ulcers. I went to the doctor and told her my symptoms and got some blood work done. I was tested for a variety of things....lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, anemia, diabetes, etc...and everything came back normal except my urine for some reason...I have to go back and give another urine sample. I was relieved that I wasn't diagnosed with anything, but also confused. I am still having these symptoms and I feel terrible. I don't understand. Is it possible that I might have lupus, but for some reason it didn't show up in the blood work? My doctor told me to come back in a few months if I didn't feel any better and get more blood work done. I have been eating well and trying to exercise more...but it hurts and I'm just so tired all of the time. I'm only 19.

My grandmother has lupus.

Fibromyalgia is a condition that often mimics Lupus and your tests will come back normal. There is no current test for Fibromyalgia. Go to http://www.fibrohugs.com/article.php?sto... for more information and support.

hi,sorry your going thru this,im not sure about lupus its a possibiltly.try to find information on the internet about fibromyagila.but im not sure about the rashes and mouth ulcers,

The worst thing to do is self-diagnose yourself. There are many other things that can cause your symptoms. Even a combination of 2 or more things. The best thing is to write all symptoms down as they occur, when and why. Take this to your MD and keep on top of things, you may want to give a 2nd MD a change. Just do not drive yourself nuts. Some people can do that too and mimic symptoms.

At our clinic we have never had one person that tested had lupus, fibromyalgia or parkinsons that didnt test positive for lyme disease( can be sexually transmitted). Drs dont usually test for it because they ahve to do a lot of reporting to local health departments and research on how to fix it. All of our testing is done at an outside sourse.

We usually put people on ASAP Coloidal Silver for a month and then lyme protocol for homeopathics.

I agree you could have fibromyalgia and on top of that is could be like ME which is Myalgic Encephalomyelitis it is very similar to Chronic Fatigue syndrome. But there is NO tests to prove these - it all goes by the patients complaints over the years and they have done tests but can't find anything. Have you ever got a lymes Disease test? How about have you ever had your thyroid checked (best way is a ultra sound)? Sometimes these 2 things can be the problem and they mimic all of the above.

I have had FM for years and years and I know of every symptom I have but everyone is different. I am not a medical Dr. therefore all I can do is suggest - but do get those 2 other tests done before you do anything else. If they come up negative then I would find a Dr. that BELIEVES in Fibro and CFS or ME. There are MANY that don't.

Good Luck :)

Get check for Lyme disease they can attck the joints or muscle and those other sympntons.

There is no blood test for lupus.

A combination of lab results can help point in the direction of lupus.

Your doc probably ordered an ANA. In lupus patients that could be negative and it always fluctuates.

You probably had protein in your urine and they want to see if it is still there. Half of all lupus patients get kidney disease. Before you get terrified, it is usually treatable if caught early.

Go to a rheumatologist for a good diagnosis. The average doctor is not qualified to make this diagnosis. Lupus is extremely complicated and you need a specialist.

Lupus is most likely to develop in women between the ages of 14 and 45.
