Why did all u smokers get started? don't you ever worry about dying from lung cancer or any diseases...... |
im writing a report on smoking for school and ive never realley thought about this before. 4.8 million people die each year from smoking and another 30 thousand to 60 thousand around those people die from second hand smoke.dont any of you smokers ever fear that you could be tha next ones to get a tirmanal illness and then in afew months die.i know that it must be hard to quit but youve all gotta try cause if you dont than your gonna end up one of these days being one of those 4.8million dead every year. i'd suggest you read The Easy Way to Stop Smoking by Allen Carr. He gives you a wonderful overview on how people get started smoking, the psychological addiction, the societal "brainwashing" etc. Granted, it is a book on how to stop but it will give you the plain answer. People are idiots and they are addicted to a drug called nicotine. The drug addiction is not strong at all and the only thing that keeps people smoking is the "brainwashing" (for lack of a better term) that our culture has had to deal with. I can say this because I used to be one of those idiots, and was able to escape from the nicotine trap. Nicotine is a drug that closely mimics naturally occuring neurotransmitters so it is very addictive. We like to destroy that which makes us human on a very primitive level. The ability to combat addiction is a higher minded function, which is actually what we destroy with addictive behavious as well as substances. A very self destructive phenomenon, compounded by fear from the unfamiliar. Drugs like nicotine are very consistant and reliable "feel good things" while friends and family are as you know - not as consistant. |
