It goes from diagnosis to surgery to radiation, side effects, and how to handle them. is that breast cancer? i dont know cause im not a female.. well you may check for youtube "breast cancer" if it is it... I've had one. I had outpatient (one day) surgery with general anesthesia. Minimal pain, but I never regained nerve sensation in that area. I had lumpectomy (you will be sedated) with chemo and radiation. I went home the same day. If they are removing any lymph nodes under your arm you will probably go home with a drain tube and bottle to collect the fluid. I was able to go back to work about 5 days later and started chemo about a month later followed by radiation. The post op you may need to take some pain medication for a day or two and radiation isn't too bad. You may feel tired and your skin might get radiation burns, similar to a bad sunburn. I little sensation to pain in my right breast and it's a little lopsided but most of it is still there. |
