An amazing site that has helped me through everything this past year is www.breastcancer.org it is an amazing site and will answer all your questions. It goes from diagnosis to surgery to radiation, side effects, and how to handle them.
If you are having radiation, this is a good sign as it probably hasn't spread. If you are having your lymph nodes removed, that will tell you more. If you do have your lymph nodes removed, get a small pillow and put it under your arm to separate your arm from your body. It will help with the pain. I wish you the best. In the book "Chicken Soup for the Survivors Soul" it had a saying " A survivor is a victim with ATTITUDE!" Girl, get yourself some attitude. It keeps you with a smile on your face and helps you think positive.

is that breast cancer? i dont know cause im not a female.. well you may check for youtube "breast cancer" if it is it...

I've had one. I had outpatient (one day) surgery with general anesthesia. Minimal pain, but I never regained nerve sensation in that area.

"The lumpectomy surgery itself should take around 15鈥?0 minutes. The process of being admitted and prepared for surgery will vary from place to place. The amount of time you spend in the recovery room, waking up and getting to the point that you're ready to go home, will vary from woman to woman."

I didn't have radiation.

I had lumpectomy (you will be sedated) with chemo and radiation. I went home the same day. If they are removing any lymph nodes under your arm you will probably go home with a drain tube and bottle to collect the fluid. I was able to go back to work about 5 days later and started chemo about a month later followed by radiation. The post op you may need to take some pain medication for a day or two and radiation isn't too bad. You may feel tired and your skin might get radiation burns, similar to a bad sunburn. I little sensation to pain in my right breast and it's a little lopsided but most of it is still there.

Good luck and if you want to talk to someone let me know. I care.
