What is the difference between a biopsy and a Lumpectomy? A lumpectomy removes only the lump in order to biopsy it. A biopsy is when they take it to the lab to determine if it is cancerous. Your "best answer" is incorrect. A biopsy and a lumpectomy are not the same thing. If you read my answer, you will know what the correct answer is. Report It A lumpectomy only removes a portion of the breast - the tumor. A mastectomy removes the entire breast. Depending on the extent of the cancer in the breast, a lumpectomy or mastectomy can be done. |
