Chemo or Radiotherapy?

My sister has been diagnosed with a fast growing cancerous breast lump. she is having a lumpectomy and then 6 months of chemotherapy. The tumour is encapsulated. How do DR's decide whether to go for Chemo or Radiotherapy?

Both treatment modalities serve a specific purpose and depend on the stage and grade and type of tumors.

Chemotherapy is a systemic treatment designed to travel throughout the body in the same manner that a metastasized cancer cell might travel.
Chemotherapy will be given if the cancer is known to be aggressive, fast growing, and might metastasize.

By her a medication Floresence buy on inj Mexico or on line it gives you energy, reduce side effects of cancer radiation

I found my lump by accident
Vicki 鈥?Aged 34

I found my lump by accident in Jan 2001 and have since had chemo and radiotherapy following partial mastectomy. My journey hasn't been smooth, about to have my fifth visit to hospital this year. Two major infections, one collapse and a few other hiccups, but my message is to hang in and take care of your body. Take your temp regularly and take supplements to assist your immune system. I finished my treatment in August 2001 and I now Dragonboat race in a breast cancer team as well as all of the other things that I did before ( I have a pretty frenetic life!!) I had a great time with my 'grunge' look with no hair, fake body piercing jewellery completed the look!!

I would like to see some sort of concerted media campaign aimed at young women, as there is no screening and generally young women aren't thinking about breast cancer because the media is aimed at women over 40 or 50. Tell your young friends to check themselves regularly and get their doctors to check, don't take no for an answer if you find a breast change!!

radiotherapy is used to target on certain spot of cancer. but the cancer is already spread out, chemo might be a better option for treatment.

i really have no idea..... but goodluck to your sister.... i lost my brother in law to testicular cancer just days before his 26th birthday.........it was really devistating...... i think chemo is for more advanced cases and is a more aggresive treatment than radiotherapy...... but i could be wrong..... i'm not much help am i?... sorry......

hey, im sorry to hear about that, but my mother has been suffering when cancer also for the past 4 years since 2003. the cancer has spread from the beast to the bone, lung, liver and brain. Last year the doctors said they had no more chem to give her, and gave her few months to live. Now its been nearly 6months and shes very healthy, and defining the odds, and over coming it. how? well e-mail me and ill be more then happy to supply you with a doctors (spec) contact number. The herbs (medicine they give) really is working. My mum is doing very well, and the cancer is decreasing. My e-mail is srh_90@hotmail.com Hope this helps...........

Chemotherapy is usually given after a tumor has been removed to make sure that any remaining cells are killed. Radiation is used on live tumors or existing cancer cells. And in some cases it can be given at the same time.

I am on my third chemo drug for breast cancer and I am having spots on my spine radiated.
