Loss of perphial vision?

I was hit in the eye with a raquet ball over a year ago. I intially went to the eye doctor and he ran a test where I have click a button everytime I saw a dot of light. The test revealed that my retina was NOT detached, and say my perphial vison would eventually come back. Over a year later I still have a loss of perphial vision in the lower part of my my, somedays it's just blurred others its completly black, what could this be, I have a feeling it is a tear in the retina, going to the optomolgist in two weeks, should I be worried about getting in earlier?

Common causes of peripheral vision loss include glaucoma, stroke, branch retinal vein or artery occlusions, ischemic optic neuropathy, and migraine (transient).
Uncommon, or even rare, causes of peripheral vision loss include retinitis pigmentosa, choroideremia, gyrate atrophy, pituitary tumors, optic disc drusen (deposits), brain tumors and aneurysms, and tilted optic discs (nerves). Many other possibilities exist, but are rare. I doubt it would be a retinal tear, unless you are having symptoms of light flashes and floaters.

You shoulds go earlier phone them up tell them your syptoms.

If they catch a tear in the retina early they can operate and seal it back on without their being any permennant damage. Very important to go get it checked out as soon as possible.

sounds like you should get it checked out soon to make sure its not realy realy bad. it sounds like the same thing i get when i get migranes (i get them a lot!) so i know how horrible it is!

If you are still having problems a year out, then the wise thing to do is to get a second opinion from a different doctor.

Everyone has the potential to make mistakes, or miss something, even doctors.
