Low blood pressure?! I'm 18!? |
I'm 18 and feel really tired and lazy. If I suddently stand up I get dizzy and my vision gets blurry... I am just wondering if you have taken your blood pressure while you are sitting down or lying down. compare this blood pressure with the blood pressure you have taken while standing up. If there is a difference in the systolic blood pressure (the number on top) that means you have a postural hypotension. Postural hypotension or drop happens when you suddenly get up from a lying position. One cause for this is dehydration or there is not enough fluids in the body. Try drinking extra fluids and see if your blood pressure improves. If this does not have any effect at all, consider seeing your doctor. It may be you have an infection (which can also cause low BP if you are septic). See a doctor - you might need something in your diet. I have BP as low as yours, and it won't get much lower than that unless you're heat stressed or dehydrated. Practice being aware of the sensations before you faint, so that you know in advance when you have to sit down. Putting your head down to your knees (while sitting) helps a lot. It's not at all a dangerous condition, in fact it's much healthier than high BP. It tends to slowly improve with age. lol im 18 and I have to same problem. If I get up to fast I get a tunnel black out sensation! I cant sit down for more than half an hour or I fall asleep. One time I was sitting on my couch and I got up really fast to close the window and I used alot of energy and force all at once to close it, and I past out and sat in my plate full of salad that was on the couch. When I woke up my sister was crying, I guess the fan that was sitting in the window sill fell down and hit her in the head when I passed out. I was probly passed out for like 2-3 minutes sitting in my salad and everyone was more worried about my sister lol. For all they knew I was dead and sitting in salad. It was interesting...lol What Is Low Blood Pressure? Sounds like postural hypotension, especially as you have low blood pressure to begin with. It is quite common in younger people and especially those who are physically fit. Get out of bed or up from a chair very slowly to allow the bloodflow to get to your brain more quickly, and this will stop the dizziness. Good luck. eat enough otherwise your bp will be low |
