Is it normal to lose vision when your blood sugar drops? |
sometimes, when my blood sugar level gets low, my eyesight goes out. it's mostly things that i'm looking directly at- i can see everything around it, but i can't see it, it's like it's just not there. this used to only happen when i hadn't eaten for a very long time. but, for instance, today i had breakfast around 7:00 am, and then got lunch around noon, and right before i was eating lunch my vision was starting to fade. is this normal for people with low blood sugar? is there something i can do to prevent it? when that happens to be everything just sorta of gets dark..you have to eat more often to avoid having your blood sugar drop...i would definitely go to a MD and find out for sure how bad your condition is you may need medication to control it...have chocolates, soda or OJ around in case it happens See yor doctor soon :::: The best thing to do is get some medical intervention ASAP. no , this is not normal , the hydration state of the lens and vitreous change with the changes in blood sugar states , but you are also giving a symptom of defective central vision and this is mostly due to a cause in the macula , I suggest you go to an eye doctor and get ur eyes checked , also do fasting glucose test , good luck I have been diabetic for 16 yrs. I'm 29 now. When my BS gets down into the 50's, I start to see....I guess you would call it bright tracers. Like a floating shape of bright neon type colors...it s hard to explain. But it goes away as soon as I get some sugar. As far as losing vison completely.....I wouldnt guess that is normal. Should mention that to your doctor next time. |
