What do you wat if you might have low blood sugar?

can anyone tell me what you should eat if you think you might have low blood sugar. There are somethings going on with my body and I asked a question ealrier on here it about it and someone gave me a website to look at about low sugar and i ahve just about every sign. Can someone tell me what i should do in the case that i can not ge tthe the hospital right away, is there anything i can do in the mean time. I live 45 mins away from the closet hospital and I have no ride at this time to get there. my hubby works 3rd shift about 40 mins away. and i have two children i would need to take care in the mean time, Is there anything i can so in the mean time to get my sugar up and is this soemthing that i should go to the hospital right away about or could it wait til morning? I ahve no experience with this what so ever. What are teh bad side effects of this, could it kill me?

the best things are orange juice or coca-cola. They sell tubes of glucose at the pharmacy called Insta-glucose. You keep them in the fridge or in your purse and when you start to feel woozy or disoriented just swallow a tube of that. Remember, all these things are only a quick fix, and you should always eat a meal to stabilize you blood sugar. Yes, you can wait until morning....just eat a snack before bed thats really sweet......if your really worried, set your alarm for 3 or 4 am and eat another snack. I would see a doc tommorrow, because the last thing you wanna do is let your blood sugar bottom out with noone there. Please inform your kids whats going on just in case you were to pass out sometime. Usually once you have hypoglycemia, it never goes away. So it wont hurt to educate them on what to do in case of emergency. Good luck to you!!!!

i always carry little tootsie rolls and peppermints incase i feel my blood sugar dropping. after a while you just know.

Have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a glass of milk. That should bring it up and stabilize it too. And yes, you can go into a coma and die if your blood sugar gets too low....and no, you don't have to go to the hospital right now, just eat. Call the dr. in the morning.

low blood sugar is actually more serious that high blood sugar. low blood sugar is called hypoglycemia and high blood sugar is called diabetes. you need to see a doctor-this can be serious. don't get all worried though, just get your blood sugar checked.you want to know what your a-1-a # is. don't know what it means, but i am a diabetic and that # is the most important thing for my treatment. good luck

HI. First of all, you've to know your body and low levels of sugar
signs: (drowsiness,to be thirsty, cooler skin;sweating). Second, always carry with mints; or sugar pouch in your purse.... when you feel the signs....put it in your mouth quickly.

Your body needs a constant supply of oxygen and glucose to work, so if you don't have enough glucose (sugar) than you would not be able to function. You would start to feel bad and get aggitated, maybe even being abusive to your children (and not knowing you were). Then if your sugar still dropped, you would pass out and would eventually die.

If you think you are having a problem, then drink orange juice or a soda or something for a "quick fix". Then you need to eat something to keep your sugar up. The juice will raise it fast, but its like the saying, "The bigger (or higher) it is the harder (or faster) it falls." Try to eat a peanut butter sandwich or a sandwich with meat and cheese. Cheese is good, peanut butter is good. Maybe you have left overs from dinner. That should do the trick for the night.

Have your husband wake you up when he gets home and see how you feel, maybe eat a small snack listed above to help til the morning. I don't think you need to go to the hospital right now because if you eat, your sugar will be normal when you get there. The doctor will probably tell you to just follow up with your personal doctor.

Call your doctor and schedule an appointment ASAP. Try to get one in the morning and don't before hand so they can do fasting blood work. Then they will probably check you through out different times of the day.

So breathe, and go get a snack and take it easy.

always keep some glucose biscuits with you. you can use in every half an hour daily. try some months, your body will maintain the problem slowly.
