Is low blood sugar common during pregnancy? |
I am a diabetic and I have been using the same dosage of medication since a long time and never experienced low blood sugar. Now I think I am pregnant (3wks, too early to test) and my blood sugar is going to as low as 32 in the middle of the night. Does this mean I conceived? Is low blood sugar common during pregnancy? Please advice. Lower blood sugars are common in early pregnancy as your body uses extra glucose to get the infrastructure going for the baby. Very hard to say. Since you are already diabetic, gestational diabetes is out of the question. Hormones will fluctuate when pregnant and your "system" might be all out of whack. The amount of insulin you require is not written in stone, way too many factors can effect your B/S level. Just reduce nighttime injection amount or eat more at night. You will find a balance but remember it could change day by day. |
