Low blood sugar and working out?


I have low blood sugar in the morning, but I would like to start running in the morning. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to raise my blood sugar? I don't want to eat much at all before I go working out, I cramp up pretty easily.

If anyone has experienced this, please let me know what they have done!

somegirl - I was just tested, and I do not have diabetes, but I have every symptom of hypoglycemia. I want to start eating better and exercising more to help myself keep it under control.

do you have diabetes? i would recommend eating something high in sugar and wait about 30 minutes before running. Make sure you monitor your glucose before you run! good luck and be careful!

eating is probably your best bet, eating low GI foods such as rice that are low in fiber and fat should increase the speed of stomach emptying. other then that you could just drink a sports drink or something elce rich in simple shugers.

I suggest you drink a cup of coffee (with sugar of course) or hot chocolate before working out.
