Low blood sugar after exercise? |
After I worked out this morning I felt really shaky and weak afterward and just felt "funny". I ate some grapes and then felt better. Do you think it was low blood sugar? I had just ate breakfast an hour before (coffee and toast) so it wasn't like I hadn't eaten. Is this normal? How do I prevent it? THIS IS VERY NORMAL, EXERCISE, CARDIO OR LIFTING WEIGHTS, LOWER SUGAR LEVELS, JUST MAKE SURE YOU EAT ABOUT 20 MINUTES BEFORE, BY THE WAY, COFFEE AND TOAST IS NOT A VERY NUTRITOUS BREAKFAST. YOU NEED SOME SOLID FOOD BEFORE YOU WORKOUT AND ALSO A SHAKE OR FOOD AFTERWARDS TO BRING YOUR SUGAR LEVELS BACK UP. When we exercise our bodies use a lot of glucose, so it is perfectly normal to have low blood sugar after you exercise. If you know you are going to have this, then simply take a snack with you when you exercise. If this happens to you regularly, I would talk to your physician about it. gatorade is made especially for this. drink some during or right after exercise. |
