What are the two challenging issues for Long Term Care. Discuss each including how you think the issue should?

What are the two challenging issues for Long Term Care. Discuss each including how you think the issue should be handled. can you give rationale.

1. Financing: Long term care is frightfully expensive. Most people cannot afford prolonged care as it is in excess of $300 per day. Once a patient's resources are exhausted, the government has to step in and pay for the care. There is insufficient money to pay for the level of care that is needed. Unless the government moves to socialized medicine, many people will not receive the level of care that they need.

2. End of Life Issues: At what point are medical interventions withdrawn? Who makes that decision if the patient is unable either physically or mentally to do so?

These are only two issues. Hope it helps.

Definitely finances. Longer lifespans, increasing medical costs, inflation and possibly now recession mean more people are going to have to stay in the home or move in with their children.

Number two would be the benefits/costs of Long term care insurance. The government can't handle it all. We all talk about needing to save for retirement. It's more like save for putting mom and dad in a caring facility or having nursing care at home.
