I work in a long term care, can anyone tell me the regulations for giving incontinent care at mealtime?

Incontinent care should be given in privacy prior to mealtime. If a resident needs urgent incontinent care during a meal, you may respectfully assist them to a private area. Assist with the care and back to the meal. Reheat the meal if necessary so that it is served at the proper temperature.

Giving incontinent care while the person is dining (say in thier room) most likely would be against a regulation related to dignity.

OMG. PLEASE ask your nursing supervisor.

i get my diaper changed when ever it is wet - but I am very small and my ladies say it is very easy to change me - Please read my 360 and you will see what I mean !
Change them when they need it -

You don't give incontinent care at mealtimes. You do it either before or after, preferably before and do your rounds before mealtimes. If you have qeustions, check your Policy & Procedures manual. You have one and it's your responsibility to know where it's located and what's in it whether or not you want to.

First of all while handling food you would never want to give incontinent care to anyone. This should be done before meal trays are given. Think about yourself.. Would you want someone to serve you food knowing they just cleaned up stool or urine..You must be new in the health care, or maybe you need a refresher course in basic nursing assist care.
