How has the long-term health care system addressed aging populations in the past 50 years?

How has the long-term health care system addressed aging populations in the past 50 years?

There are only a few bright spots. Regulators have improved fire safety in long term care facilities. Docs are using a lot less medication. There is now a group called AMDA (American Medical Directors Association) with over 12000 members who have had additional education in Long Term Care principles. On the down side, much of the infrastructure built between 1960 and 1990 is now deteriorating and needs replacement. Families are still having trouble copeing with the placement issue. There is a lot of misplaced optimism about the ability of science to cure all disease. The majority of American families seem to believe that every symptom or complaint requires a pill. Google AMDA to visit the AMDA website for further information
