Disability Living Allowance and RAS? |
My 3 yr old daughter has been suffering from RAS (Reflex Anoxic Seizures) for more than two years. She has many random attacks and we never have fore-warning of them. She usually passes completely out and then recovers shortly after and cannot ever be left unsupervised....A nurse at the hospital advised me of Disability Living Allowance but I have never claimed for my daughter. Does anyone know if maybe she would be entitled to it??? yes she should be entitled to it check on line where you can get a form from it will also show you the amounts payable for your daughter if you are not working and your daughter receives middle or higher rate you are also entitled to carers allowance which is 拢48.65 per week also if you get child tax credit/working tax credit then inform the tax credits your daughter gets D L A and the amount increases because then you would be entitled to a disabilty component award on your tax credits no worries good luck and remember when you fill the form in everthing you write must be when your daughter is having one of those really bad days everything at its worst Report It It is not her that is entitled to it - it is the principal carer (at least until she reaches adulthood) You will never know until you claim it - the worst thing that can happen is that they can turn you down - you'll be no worse off if that happens anyway. Obviously the nurse thought you'd qualify or she wouldn't have mentioned it. i recieve DLA for my son..look on www.dwp.gov.uk or ring them direct on 08457123456 you will need your national insurance number and they will send you all claim forms for both living and mobility allowence....be warned though forms are a pig to fill in but good luck with your plight and i hope this helps As far as DLA is concerned it is not the condition which dictates an award but how it affects the claimant. i.e. two people could have the same illness and one would be awarded DLA while the other might not. |
