How does someone go about living in a nursing home?

I recently had my dad placed in a nursing home, becuz it was clear he no longer could funtion at home. After seeing the way he is living, I, too would like to live in a home, just not the one he does. Dad's is a low budget one without air conditioning. He gets his meals made for him, laundry done, no clean up at all. Housekeeping even takes care of his hideous plants. I'm getting up there in age myself.(53) and i'm thinking this might be what i need. Dad has his own wheelchair n the nurses actually push him to dinner. no work for him at all. They even give him a bath n he doesnt need to lift a finger. Man, i would love that. What r the requirements to live in a nursing home in west virginia?

Get some shady doc to sign off that it is a medical necessity for you. Then you get to pay the bill. If you can't pay the bill, then you get one like your dad's. You may well have to sign your decision making authority over to someone else.

Perhaps you could consider some form of assisted living facility, or retirement community. There are many variations in cost, services and qualifications. You could look all over the country.

First you need a doctors order for a nursing home itself. If you're talking about living on campus, like an apt or cottage check with the facility itself they can tell you. But if you're talking about assissted living you need to have some kind of medical condition and need a Doc's order.
