For ones living with a positive test only for......?

HIV.....I am in the medical field and am always interested in knowing more about patients. What finally got you to a doctor for your test? Did you have symptoms or was it just a test that you had and didn't expect the result? I know all the articles everywhere to read but it is different than really talking to someone that is living wtih it.
My mom had brain cancer and no other illness. It was primary. We knew before the MRI that she was possibly facing something pretty drastic so when the DX came we really weren't "shocked" so much.....sad yes, but not shocked. I shared with her and to others what we went thru so others could learn. Do you go to a support group?
Guess that is what I want to know the real you......the real symptoms....time frame...lifestyle.....If this is too personal to share on here then I totally understand.......this subject is personal, not that I will know you but well you know what I mean...its not like sharing my moms cancer....thanks

I'm actually posting here in response to "cihfwt" who doesn't seem to understand anything about HIV. HIV patients can be (and often are) just as healthy as un-infected people, and often only need hospital checkups every couple of months, or even less then that if they're therapy is working and their viral load is stable. Maybe YOU should be the one going to Wikipedia?

To tell you the truth, i don't think your going to find people with HIV on yahoo. They need hospital care 24:7, adn are prone to bacteria.Just advice. Sorry about your mom. If you want to learn more, try wikipedia
