RAS and disability living allowance?

My 3 yr old daughter has been suffering from RAS (Reflex Anoxic Seizures) for more than two years. She has many random attacks and we never have fore-warning of them. She usually passes completely out and then recovers shortly after and cannot ever be left unsupervised....A nurse at the hospital advised me of Disability Living Allowance but I have never claimed for my daughter. Does anyone know if maybe she would be entitled to it???

Yes you are most probably entitled to it for your daughter,i will give you a tip on how it works for young children.
Basically if your child through her illness needs more care than a child of similar age then you can apply.
Nothing ventured nothing gained as they say,so get the forms and fill them in.
A few tips on helpful people who can help fill them in,local C.A.B office or D.I.A.C is even better find your nearest online.
Any doctor or specialist you have used in relation to your daughters condition, there are parts on the form you can ask them to fill in.
Is the condition permanent? How it affects your child and the fact she can never play outside unless you are there etc.
My niece is downsyndrome and my brother gets D.L.A, and a load of help.
Go for itits worth the effort of filling in the form.

your best bet would be to fill in the forms and send them back. get help from the citizens advice bureau as the forms can be very complicated.

It sounds from what you have said that you could well be. If I was you I would ring up and get the form. Don't be put off by it, just fill it honestly, answer the questions as if it was your worst day.

It is not her that is entitled to it - it is the principal carer (at least until she reaches adulthood)

But it sounds like you should be entitled to a great deal more than this (mobility allowance component for example)

It is imperative that you contact the local CAB asap as some of these have time limits on their ability to be backdated.

Make an appointment to go in and get a full review (confidential) as this could be an hour or so - but well worth the time as they will even help you fill out the many and complicated forms

Yes she is, ask your social services for help and advice
