You probably should learn to read, write and effectively communicate if you want to be any use to your child. If there is a legitimate medical disability, there are a multitude of resources and financial supports available to your family. A social worker should have met with you while the child was in the hospital to make all of those arrangements, but if that did not happen, you should get referrals from your doctors and visit your local social services office.

If a child is disabled, they can collect disability through their parent's social security benefit, so you should also contact the social security administration.

From what I understand you can apply for DLA at the age of five and above. By the sound of things I think you stand a very good chance of getting it at the higher rate, I suspect you will also be entitled to carers allowance for looking after your little one.
The form's are fairly easy to fill in but my advice would be to ask somebody else to help you fill them in.
Also make an appointment to see your GP, explain to him that you are making a DLA claim and explain the reasons why. The doctor will be contacted by the DLA people.
Good Luck.
Ja.

You need to apply for Disability Living Allowance. Contact your Health Visitor at the Doctors Surgery who will be able to help you. There are two levels and a component for travel. You have to have a Doctor (not your own) assess your need.
Ring the DHS for the forms. If you are eligible your other income is not taken into account.

Have you tried Movicol for your child. I have cared for disabled children and through immobility they suffer with terrible constipation. Many of them have Movicol and in my opinion given in the right dose which is variable with each child, it far and away beats any other remedy.

The doctor will prescribe, but it is also available over the counter. It comes in the form of white powder that can be added to any drink (even milk) or sprinkled on food with liquid, such as ready brek or mashed potato with milk. It works in such a way as it attracts liquids to the waste matter keeping it soft and movable.

I have seen it clear out many of the children in my care and then continue to maintain movements for them, really bringing about a change for them.

The overflow is a result of what we term 'sneaky' matter, because it is able to seep past the main blockage, so you think in fact the child must be emptying her bowels, but this is not clearing the blockage at all, it is merely squeezing past the trouble.

Please e - mail if you think I may be able to help

You should make a claim for DLA and Carers allowance. It may take a few weeks and your daughter will be seen by an Independant Doctor for examination. Apply to the Social Security .If you phone them, they will send the forms to you. Very sad case.
