If there is a legitimate medical disability, there are a multitude of resources and financial supports available to your family. A social worker should have met with you while the child was in the hospital to make all of those arrangements, but if that did not happen, you should get referrals from your doctors and visit your local social services office. From what I understand you can apply for DLA at the age of five and above. By the sound of things I think you stand a very good chance of getting it at the higher rate, I suspect you will also be entitled to carers allowance for looking after your little one. You need to apply for Disability Living Allowance. Contact your Health Visitor at the Doctors Surgery who will be able to help you. There are two levels and a component for travel. You have to have a Doctor (not your own) assess your need. You should make a claim for DLA and Carers allowance. It may take a few weeks and your daughter will be seen by an Independant Doctor for examination. Apply to the Social Security .If you phone them, they will send the forms to you. Very sad case. |
