Any info on Zoloft or other anti-depressants causing increased occurrence of "age spots" / "liver spots"?? |
I am 34 years old and I've been taking Zoloft for 6 years. About a year ago I started noticing liver spots on my legs, below the hem of my shorts. (during the summer) I am pretty sure they are liver spots, they look like large freckles and they are only on the part of my legs exposed to the sun. The only think I can think of is that maybe the Zoloft makes your skin more sensitive to sunlight? I know some medications do so, but I haven't heard that about Zoloft per se. Any other possible causes other than getting older? Vitamin deficiency maybe? The SRI drugs like Zoloft can indeed increase sun sensitivity. Whether that results in increased liver spots is something else, but you can find all kinds of literature on the subject by typing the words "zoloft sun sensitivity" into a search engine like Yahoo or Google. It's more than I could possibly list here. Im sorry to hear that i took zoloft for a while and stopped because it made me sick i think maybe you should talk to your therapist or doctor about this though Good luck with this I've done quite a bit of research on this subject. (I was depressed for nearly 5 years). I don't know about Zoloft, but St. John's Wort will increase sun sensitivity, but I don't think that's your problem. Age spots are quite normal. Maybe a little early, in your case, perhaps. I have them on my arms and on on my cheek at 54. You are young, only 34 years old..I am also on Zoloft and I also noticed freckles and pigmentation, but I thought it may be caused because of my exposure to the sun every year..But lately, I am observing the same phenomenon and I am only 27 to have "age spots"..Best of luck! A liver flush can remove liver spots but more importantly, think of liver spots as a warning signal that you need to flush toxins and mineralize your body. Eating more raw foods and vegetables would be a great place to start. Drinking clean water is the next thing that might help. I would look closely at a liver/gallbladder flush and the folling flush is a good one. |
